Much ado about nothing

An ATSH report, circulated in the Italian media yesterday morning, caused panic and even reached alarming levels within police circles and for the PS. What has really happened, what place has the new foreign presence in the young age of the new order found, and even the communists of Vilijani have discovered a fraction provoked in favor of Nano with party. The report released by ATSH said that the reaction of the European Council was quite lukewarm, while at the same time, during the same period, the crisis in Albania has taken on unmanageable dimensions. But how true are these claims, what is being referred to, who is being referred to, and whether there really are criminal or infiltrated elements in Albania, and what persons are being discussed? Will the PS hold a round table today in its own circle?, meanwhile the Minister of the Interior has declared that he will publish the full report. Referring to the Italian newspaper, it is learned that agents, murderers, or traffickers have been spread across certain regions of the country.
If these are foreign nationals who, after 1997, entered Albania and claim to have come under the pretext of the war in Kosovo, in fact most of them turn out to be without proper documents, with criminal records and suspicious activity. In this climate, the Albanian police is warning of measures to identify and remove them.
According to police operational information, some of these individuals are said to own luxury vehicles, move around with large sums of money, and frequent sensitive areas. Law-enforcement structures are investigating the sources of funding and possible links to trafficking or organized groups.
According to official sources, among the most problematic cases are individuals arriving from the Middle East, North Africa, and other countries, who entered as asylum seekers or in transit and then remained on Albanian territory. Authorities state that a number of them have had trouble with the law in their respective countries.
The police announces that it is preparing a broad verification of documentation, residence status, and declared addresses, while other institutions will cooperate to identify any violations.
In this context, the issue has received major political attention, being used by different sides as an argument for the failure of order and security. However, it remains to be seen whether the statements will be accompanied by concrete evidence or will remain merely part of the day's debate.
