Votes wasted on an nonexistent state

Votes wasted on the nonexistent state Judging from the current developments in the country, it is not hard to reach the conclusion that the name of the pashalik has long since come to an end. A part of Albanians thinks so. May it have crossed the minds of most people that the lack of statehood has long infected the way of thinking, as shown by the various serious violations committed against it. Perhaps one of the violations is paradoxically the opposite. The truth is that since the institutionalization of the building of the substitute state, it can be seen that propaganda of the most openly demagogic kind, through pseudo-correct statements, may have some long-term effect. It is understandable that the punishments inflicted constituted one of the harshest consequences of the government’s state-destroying actions. On the side of the ministries of this country, and previously of the ministries, are all those who, without giving any explanation, are terrorizing them with the old methods from the time of the dictatorship. This is made even more serious by the fact that in the relevant ministries the government itself does not observe the simplest rules of legality. The time has come for Albanian society to understand that it will no longer escape without the perpetrators being punished. Excessive tolerance toward the many violators of the law has become a terrible disease that has infected our everyday life. To provide more details on this concern, below we publish a text sent to us from Italy, under the title “The mystery of the theft of agricultural machines in Albania”. We have not been able to verify by other means what is written, but regardless of that, not only because of the many names and circumstances, but also because it presents a case worthy of denunciation in the Albanian free media. It is also of great interest to note that this does not happen because of a lack of rights or interest, but is a consequence of a quasi-mafia system of corruption. Even if only 50 percent of what is said below were true, it would be enough to raise the alarm about a serious illness in our administration and about a state that in reality is being kept alive only by a kind of inertia. And likewise to understand that the state has become far too small in the face of private interests and corrupt officials. All the more so because if this story were confirmed, it should lead to deep reflection on the way the Albanian state functions. From this perspective, the case presented below is not merely a crime report, but a sick symptom of our society.

Terror among passengers heading to Tro[poja] Terror among passengers heading to Tropoja Mountain clashes attack the ferry Serbian forces launched repeated attacks, rushing to throw themselves into the waters of Lake Fierza, and this sparked a terrible incident last night on the Alpin ferry. They blew up the rock, then opened fire with guns. The event caused panic among hundreds of passengers. Due to the shooting, the ferry stopped its journey for a few moments and people tried to find shelter in different parts of the vessel. According to witnesses, armed men positioned on the mountain heights above the lake fired toward the ferry, creating a severe atmosphere of fear.
