To demand the cleansing, even of 1992, from pseudo-democrats and to demand that the cleansing of the DP by these elements be stopped means defending democracy in Albania.
Today, a new force has come to power in our country, one that seeks to lead a new society. Therefore, more than ever today, it is essential that its ranks be marked by order, discipline and responsibility. These are principles that must characterize every serious political force.
The discussions held in the National Council of the DP showed a necessary process of cleansing from elements that have undermined the morality and the rules of democratic life. In this context, tolerance, patience and their limits were discussed.
From the discussions it was said that tolerance and patience have value only within democratic norms and the party statute. Beyond that, they turn into weakness in the face of hostile activity and intrigues.
The discussions also mentioned attitudes of individuals who have exploited the name of the DP for personal interests, damaging its image in public opinion. It was stressed that the times require clarity, honesty and political responsibility.
The National Council deemed it necessary to protect the party from any attempt to turn it into a shelter for sick ambitions or for elements linked to the past.
At the meeting it was pointed out that the victory of democracy in Albania is still fragile and that anti-democratic forces are trying to create confusion and division. Therefore, the cleansing of the ranks of the DP was considered a political and moral necessity.
It was underlined that Albanian democrats expect seriousness, transparency and respect for norms. Any deviation from these principles harms not only the party, but also the democratic process in the country.
The message of the meeting was that the DP must preserve its identity as a reforming force firmly opposed to every form of pseudo-democracy.
