PS: Kalashnikovs in parliament
At least a third of left-wing deputies still smell of gunpowder. The illegitimates will bring the language of armed gangs into parliament
PD warns socialists not to trample on the values of Albanian democracy
Albanian Socialists fully confirmed the tactic that they would return to power through madness and revanchism, putting at risk and threatening all the democratic values built by Albanians since the overthrow of communism on 22 March 1992. Kastriot Islami, one of Nano's closest people, declared yesterday in an ironic and unrepentant manner that it is entirely true that his party would begin changing the constitutional laws, by changing the President of the Republic, the Electoral Code, minimizing the powers of the President, etc., and then continuing further. The most typical representative of this harshness in the Socialist Party thus displays the lack of restraint with which the former Albanian communists seek to move toward the overthrow of the constitutional order, going so far as to approve a new constitution by a parliament whose majority of deputies smell of Kalashnikov gunpowder. Being himself a deputy with a questionable mandate, since he ran in one of the areas totally engulfed by rebellion, like his leader, Fatos Nano, Prime Minister Bashkim Fino, and many of the names being mentioned as members of the new Socialist cabinet, Islami and his party should think carefully about their steps before occupying Albanian institutions, since their armed gangs forcibly occupied many cities and the polling boundaries. In parliament, where at least a third of the deputies did not allow their opponents to campaign, one should not even think about making new constitutional laws, let alone thinking about a new constitution. Socialists should be clear about the fact that, as Vrenicki also said, the 29 June vote was only an election to determine the government. More clearly, the real winners will be supported only when the dragging of a country toward the edge of war is over in all of Albania. They cannot change the constitutional package that has been accepted by all important Western institutions, just for the sake of forming a new government and not for corruption. Fatos Nano, and consequently his others who seek to destroy every bit of fragile balance in Albanian politics. All the more so since it is known that the people of PAD+ and the PSD, some of whom have served only briefly in the list of the new PS cabinet, voted five years ago for the current constitutional package, which Nano's Socialists now seek to blow up. Meanwhile, the socialists' determination to turn law and institutions upside down, after rebuilding them from the rebellion they themselves organized, has included a list of names proposed for the new red Marxist government. While there may be some change or some other reform, no change is seen for Arben Imami, the Minister of Institutional Reform. Terribly, the winners' non-victory, the reformer of laws, institutions, power-sharing agreements, and all the problems related to the approval of the new constitution, is the most savage censorship and the greatest breach committed against Albanians. By proclaiming the seizure as visionary and not for the future that the Albanian state must have, the Albanian Socialists are dragging the well-known horse they have unleashed into power three times as far as weapons. They do not welcome or favor the Socialist Party toward the thousands of firms in the south, when this war has been dressed in attacking tones and the armed gangs have enslaved them to march toward Tirana. Albanian Socialists are proclaiming the truth in order to come to power with a spirit of destruction, which means a return to the first decisions. This truth has turned into misery to be destroyed by the strong reaction of the governments and their alliance. In a parliament of Kalashnikovs, one cannot expect fundamental changes, nor even a few important or constitutional laws, because the Albanian model is lacking. If the socialists challenge this, they will face greater public condemnation and lose all values in the international arena. Bloom, and let those who want to vote speak the language of Kalashnikovs even inside the institutions, only 16 years later. Albanian homeland. Astrit PATOZI

Violence does not solve problems with Albanians
President Berisha warns the Macedonian state
President Berisha expressed his deep concern and strongly condemned the use of police violence, the killing and wounding of dozens of Albanians in Tetovë and Gostivar. Not violence, but equal treatment of ethnic groups and the implementation of advanced European standards, and respect for their symbols and history, are the way to solve the problems between Albanians and Macedonians in their common state, the President’s press office said in a statement. Otherwise, the denial of the use of national symbols for identity purposes, and even more so the deployment of armed police and paramilitary forces in violent action against an entire population, dangerously raises tensions in the neighboring country and becomes a real threat to the whole region. President Berisha calls on the Macedonian authorities to immediately withdraw their forces from the path of violence for solving political problems with Albanians. He expressed his conviction that the consolidation of Albanians’ rights on an equal basis with others is the best contribution to coexistence and to the consolidation of Macedonia itself.

Complete reform in all Party structures
Afrim Krasniqi, on overcoming the current situation in PD
"The complete reform of PD base structures is the very minimum we must do. What is most necessary for the Democratic Party to do in order to return to the Albanian political scene with the same strength it once had is the complete reform of all its structures, starting from the base"

Islami: Nano will not return the money
The elections are over, Albanians are asking for the lost money
TIRANA, 10 July /Reuters/ - As the dust settles after the elections, angry investors are seeking compensation for the money they lost in the savings schemes. The conclusion that the socialists, who have just won the elections, with Fatos Nano, will be able to keep the promise made during the election campaign to compensate investors who lost money is increasing confidence and prolonging the issue. "The lack of clarity on this has potential links with other political problems," said a Western diplomat. Nano, an economist and political scientist who is expected to become prime minister when the center-left governing coalition is soon formed, denied that he had promised compensation for the losses. "The first step that must be taken is a deep transparent analysis of the situation in cooperation with international organizations, and then the solutions to the issues are linked to the way people will be compensated," Nano's supporter Kastriot Islami told /Reuters/. "The promise has to do with efforts to compensate people and not to compensate them with the full 100 percent of the money they lost. It is very dangerous to say such a thing," meanwhile there is no money to return." A new law, previously drafted with the IMF and the World Bank, which will deal with the savings schemes, is expected to be approved as soon as the new parliament meets, since its approval was delayed because of prolonged discussions and disputes over amendments concerning the debt schemes accumulated. The law allows the government to appoint administrators for the closed schemes, while foreign experts may also carry out audits and investigate everything related to them. "This will be a very expensive operation, but it must be done," said a Western diplomat, adding that the new government was ready to move quickly in a government that is in such a position or to help it with funds, so some solution must be found as soon as possible, the better.
