Yesterday around midday at the entrance to the town of Patos, a group of police checkpoints closed off the movement of vehicles and people. The city was gripped by a heavy atmosphere after the massacre that had taken place, while residents reported automatic gunfire, violent searches and restrictions on movement. According to testimony gathered at the scene, the police exerted pressure on citizens and tried to prevent information about the event from spreading.

Yesterday, in the sanitary ambulance of the fire service branch of Patos, made up of seven people in total, after the fifteen killed who were initially in the city hospital, the service personnel took them to the mortuary. Later, according to testimony, the victims were then taken to the Fier mortuary. At that time, the atmosphere in the city was tense and residents claimed to have seen police vehicles and armed men patrolling in the center and at the entrance to the city.
In the evening, family members and relatives were seeking information about the injured and the missing. According to local sources, some of them were forcibly removed from the hospital premises. The testimonies collected for the newspaper mention gunfire, chases and great fear among the population.
Residents of neighborhoods near the center said that unknown individuals, accompanied by police, raided several homes and detained several young people. In this situation, the city of Patos spent the whole night in anxiety.

Citizens of Patos denounced that police forces set up checkpoints at the entrance to the city and stopped vehicles and pedestrians. According to them, the searches were accompanied by threats, while civilians were seen cooperating with the police to identify young people and residents suspected of being opponents.
