Center for Development Stance support for judicial independence in Albania
A member of the crisis center in Washington declared yesterday that it is concerned about the continuing arbitrary arrests of jurists and the worsening health condition of some protesters. It emphasized that the drafting process of the Constitution must include all political forces and civil society. Alvin Musin, an official of the center, said that the crisis requires an institutional solution and restraint from all sides.
For its part, the Democratic Party has welcomed this position and has valued it as encouragement for the independence of institutions. In its statement, the PD says that the government must give up political nervousness and respect democratic standards in dealing with the protest. It repeated that it is ready to take part in dialogue on the Constitution, but only on the basis of political equality and institutional guarantees.

War in Elbasan
Guns of all calibers in the “Qemal Stafa” neighborhood
The latest reports of a fight in a neighborhood of this city
One person was killed and several others were injured on Saturday evening in the city of Elbasan, after an exchange of gunfire with weapons of all calibers in the “Qemal Stafa” neighborhood. The incident occurred around 23:30, when a conflict broke out among 4-5 people. The incident took place in the center of the neighborhood, where many people were passing and moving around. It is still not known what the motive of the conflict was, but according to police sources, the cause was an earlier quarrel. After the gunfire, in which automatic weapons, pistols and even a hand grenade were used, residents of the area were terrified. Large police forces arrived at the scene and escorted several people to the police station.
According to sources at the scene, the victim is a young man from the city, while the injured were immediately taken to the regional hospital. Police have begun investigations to identify the perpetrators and fully clarify the incident.
Trokës package, the anti-crisis document
The party’s moderation tone, political positions. Coalition political positions. Coalition of positions against blockage
Before the opposition demonstration, the first version of the anti-crisis document in Trokës had called for a kind of technical government, which was repeatedly reworked and improved until it reached its final version. Nevertheless, it cannot be said that the opposition’s proposals are entirely rigid. This is because they include some unusual elements, not previously known from the Albanian opposition. The package contains a point on moderating political positions and a call for a centrist coalition. For the first time in the memory of this transition period, a document from the opposition openly proposes a broadly based political government. There are two reasons that may explain such an orientation. First, the need for the quickest possible resolution of the crisis, which requires a broader political consensus than usual. Second, the existence of a new political reality imposed by developments in recent months and international pressure.
As for the moderate political positions, they are reflected in the avoidance of harsh tones and in the aim of presenting the crisis as an issue affecting the whole society and not only a party conflict. In this sense, the package suggests that the opposition is seeking to create ground for a broader agreement. However, it remains to be seen whether this softer language will be followed by concrete actions.
