High-ranking international representatives, during an official visit to Tirana, stressed that foreign aid and relations with European institutions are conditioned on improved public order, the fight against corruption and the honest management of funds. Also in the center of attention was the Kosovo issue and the need for the Kosovo Albanians to sign a peace agreement.
In a harsh statement it was emphasized that Albania cannot expect unconditional support while crime and corruption obstruct development and the implementation of reforms. The figure of 900 million dollars was mentioned as aid at risk.

In Skënderbej Square for Azem Hajdari
On Friday, a large rally in the center of Tirana
To mark the first anniversary of the unforgettable murder of the tribune of democracy, Azem Hajdari, the Youth Forum of the Democratic Party organized an awareness-raising event in the center of Tirana on Wednesday. The tribune of anti-communism, a symbol of courage, patriotism and the truth, Azem Hajdari is still missed by democracy. One year after his murder, we honor his memory and recall our promise that his killer will be brought before justice. The Youth Forum of the Democratic Party organized an awareness-raising event in the center of Tirana on Wednesday.
Azem Hajdari is not among us, but the path he opened and the mission he left for the defense of democratic values are obligations for all of us.
Azem Hajdari is alive,
Azem is free,
Azem is first!

Why is Zani Çaushi being released?
By Aban BALA
Clear contrasts are seen in the conclusion[?] presented, along with its alarming framework for the disintegration of the state. On the political side and on the criminal side, the so-called Socialist majority failed. The situation the country is now in is such that everyone does as he knows and as he can. Or more precisely, everyone thinks they can rule through intimidation and crime.
Just as a year ago, the socialist government is still held together by a violent police and propaganda apparatus. Through it, many events have been manipulated and many others silenced. But citizens are increasingly understanding every day that this power is afraid of the truth.
Instead of punishing the perpetrators of crimes, instead of the rule of law functioning, there is a clear tendency to rehabilitate people from the criminal world, people who yesterday were symbols of terror and today are presented as victims of the system. This is offensive to citizens and dangerous for order.
Zani Çaushi is not an ordinary name. He is a symbol of the anarchy of 1997 and of the collapse of state authority in the south of the country. Anyone who tries to present him differently is serving a low political game.
Those who today speak of moral amnesty, of a return to normality and of reconciliation with crime are in fact paving the way for evil to repeat itself. Albania cannot move forward by quickly forgetting the crimes and wounds of the recent past.
We need justice, not alibis. Punishment, not decorations for local strongmen. A rule-of-law state, not rule by the street.
This is why the question arises: why is Zani Çaushi being released?
