editorial Homage to 8 December By Sinesi PEPOSHI 9 years ago, the students of the University “Ismail Qemali” in Vlora were leading the student movements for the overthrow of communism. Later, students from the country’s university centers would join their initiative, especially those in Tirana, where the December movement was also formalized. 8 December has entered the history of all Albanians as the day when hope was rightly born, the day when the wall fell, the old clichés collapsed and, ultimately, the era of freedom and change began. 9 years ago the students began the great march of freedom. From that day on, with the main hero, Nikollaq Kacifas, hundreds of young students, with a powerful cry for freedom, went out into the streets of the capital to change the overburdened system and one ruined by a dark and blind policy. Thus began those student protests, a popular movement. Thus, in the students, nothing seemed to have changed, not even the eruption of the great universal revolt against communism.
