Albanian Prime Minister Ilir Meta and other senior officials in his government signaled yesterday the next failure at the Brussels meeting, where Albania risks once again being left at the bottom of the queue among the countries included in the Stability Pact. Meta said yesterday from the Belgian capital that the percentages of Albania’s projects to be funded by the West do not matter, suggesting that the Brussels meeting will be a replay of the one in Skopje last month. As is known, at the Skopje meeting Albania managed to secure promises for only 7 percent of the projects it had submitted, making it the most discriminated-against country in the Balkans, even though it bore the heaviest burden during the Kosovo crisis. on page 3

Every day that passes since the murder of Azem Hajdari, the symbol of democracy and pluralism, proves the involvement of Fatos Nano’s government and his successor in the crime that shook the entire Albanian world. The government of the former communists, which leaves the criminals who took the life of the Leader of December free and undisturbed, shows Albanians that they have been and remain on the side of the murderers, who have claimed responsibility but are not touched by those in power. Democrats and all Albanians who condemn and honor Azem Hajdari can never tolerate this fact. The government must either apprehend the criminals and bring them to justice, or publicly declare that it itself committed the murder of Azem Hajdari.
