By a decision of the Tirana court, around 500,000 euros as well as a home, which belong to the royal heir, Prince Leka Zogu II, have been blocked. The decision to freeze the assets was taken after, for 25 consecutive installments, the borrower did not pay any monthly payment and consequently the property was also blocked.

Editorial BY ARBEN RROZHANI When Europe gives you “straw keys” Three days ago Albania received from the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe the key to steering this political body of the organization. This is the first time, after 17 years of membership in the CoE, that Albania has chaired a pan-European organization of this scale. In the presence of high-level representatives of the 47 member states of this organization, Albania took over for six months the presidency from Great Britain and the symbolic key passed from the hands of British minister William Hague to his counterpart Edmond Haxhinasto. Before Albania took over the presidency, there have been many member countries, with or without problems of the kind it has, that received the key, because this is the way it is run. While in Tirana this is called a major event, in other countries these things are treated with indifference, because that is how they should be taken and handled. For example, Ukraine led the May-November 2011 period, at a time when, as today, the country was ruled with an iron hand by President Yanukovych, who was not satisfied with dubious torture, but also imprisoned former rival prime minister Julia Tymoshenko with a seven-year sentence. Turkey was next in the period November 2010 - May 2011, at a time when, as we remember, Foreign Minister Davutoglu was going around the Balkans, proclaiming the neo-Ottoman platform, so widely debated in the former part of the Ottoman Empire, which has been confronted by the expansion of today’s Turkey under Erdogan, from soap operas to… ► continues on page 7
