Comment BY AFRIM KRASNIQI Four options for the President The process of electing the President has reached a critical point after the failure of the first three rounds and the threat that if the round is lost again, the country will move to early elections and an institutional crisis. The majority’s candidate resigned, showing civility and courage in a political swamp rotted and muddied by a lack of civility and courage. The chance for maximum consensus was lost on the day the parties refused dialogue and imposed preconditions on one another, which push compromise further away rather than bring it closer. Time is passing and the parties must find a quick, fair and as good a solution as possible. In these circumstances, there are four scenarios: first, the majority refuses negotiations and compromise with the opposition and instead chooses a politically low-profile candidate, who under the pressure of early elections will secure the necessary votes to become head of state for the next five years.
