Analysis BY ANILA BASHA For and Against Veliaj It is likely that a debate about “Veliaj’s theses” would be prejudged in the Albanian reality. Not because these theses are not valid or because the Democratic Convention in the US would not be a good experience. There are some things that Albanians should simply copy. The five steps of how Veliaj wants the PS to come to power next year are indeed valuable, but perhaps in the US. In Albania, it seems that the five proposed points, especially the first one, are better implemented by the PD. Let us take them one by one: 1. Unity around the leader Although those involved in the debate so far do not state clearly what must be said, I will say it: Is the opposition united around the leader? Yesterday I heard one of the most beautiful expressions circulating in recent days about the PS: the leader who should lead the generals in war has ended up down on the battlefield; while all the generals are up on the mountain, waving at him and showing him how badly he is working. Ten months before the elections, the situation in the PS does not seem so rosy to me.
