Commentary BY AFRIM KRAQNIQI The centenary, a missing celebration Amid the multitude of declarative activities for the 100th anniversary of the Albanian state, new publications continue to appear, mainly with historical material, monographs, journalism, personal memories of political actors, photo albums or archival documents related to specific events. The publication itself is positive, a novelty, and fills the great gap of recent years in Albanian libraries. Their presentation to the public is also understandable in a society where advertising determines sales volume, meaning that publications are part of marketing and economic logic. Both processes, publication and public presentation, are overall individual choices that depend on the circumstances, opportunities, events, or the authors’ personal relationships with public life. What constitutes the fundamental difference between the quantity of publications/presentations and the 100th anniversary of the Albanian state is institutional behavior and its relationship with this process.
