Comment BY Genci Kojdheli Kukës as a warning Few people have taken seriously the Interior Minister’s latest statement about the population growth in the Kukës County as a result of the “virility” of the local residents compared with other counties. The opposition MPs’ justified concern was answered by the Minister in a highly anecdotal manner, clearly without valid reasons or logical explanations for the rapid increase in population at the same rate. Even representatives of the majority tried to sidestep the above statement by covering it with no comment, with the exception of the Kukës County Prefect, who had previously stated: “we are not dealing with an actual increase in population, but with the return of residents who had left, as a result of improved welfare, better infrastructure and the economic potential of Kukës.” The above reasons are extremely... continued on page 22
