Commentary BY Adri Nurellari Frogs and politics One of the most prominent elements that emerged from the census was the fact that the Albanian population has continued to shrink because of emigration. The number of Albanian citizens living in Albania, supposedly close to the number of voters in the last elections, clearly suggests that the lists are inflated by emigrants and that the voter turnout among Albanian citizens is supposedly much higher than the official figure. Political participation is an issue that has always attracted the attention of the academic world, both for its importance or significance for the democracy of a country and for the complexity and diversity of its forms. The ways in which citizens and voters influence decision-making range from formal or institutional political participation to non-formal and violent forms. In the first case it is materialized through voting, candidacy, petitions, or involvement in political parties, while in the second through boycotts, demonstrations, civil disobedience, strikes, revolutions, coups, or political assassinations.
