BY JOZEF RADI Back to 20 February 22 years ago, on a day that was almost without sunlight, Albania would experience one of its most historic dates, where hope and fear, where victory and defeat, where enthusiasm and terror, where freedom and dictatorship, where youth and ... would clash to the death in that challenge which, damn it, even today remains present in our lives! 20 February 1991 remains a date to which we must return constantly, to see not only the road that was covered, but also all the later stations that came from that day... This story today is only about my reflections on that day... How I saw it and how I lived through that event that remains in the historical memory of every Albanian... for better and for worse!!! ...The morning of that Wednesday had gripped the entire capital in a general fever! The students’ hunger strike had reached a peak... Fear mingled around them... so the support of all the people of Tirana was needed, to give courage to those boys and girls so they would not lose faith, but at the same time to show the rudiments of the dictatorship... continues on page 21
