Comment BY PANDELI MAJKO Berisha’s refusal... The most dangerous self-praise in politics is the kind that “disarms” the listener with its cynical challenge. Sali Berisha challenged his relationship with the media in Albania and declared in an open letter that the upcoming election campaign will be conducted in his own “style”... This is, in fact, an assertion of his strength over the private media. The chairman of the Democratic Party stated what is already known. The media are the most fragile relationship in the country. The lukewarm reaction shows that the June electoral campaign will be distorted in this respect as well. The prime minister of a country that does not accept debate with the opposition leader in a normal country would trigger a media storm.... continued on page 4
