Editorial BY EDMOND ARIZAJ Morality, or power?! Choose! This dilemma is offered today to the voters of the Socialist Party. No one else. Only the Socialist electorate has been called upon, has been put to the test (taking as already done the acceptance of LSI’s invitation for a pre-electoral coalition). After eight years in opposition, will they choose the greatest chance to defeat Sali Berisha with a united left, or will they give in to emotions long frozen in people toward Ilir Meta? The first option brings them to power. Once they secure that, once they secure it well, everyone together, the frozen people, can seek the country’s Renaissance. If power “is not boiled,” let them seek morality, honesty, prosperity, and the country’s progress. Then it may also be time for the “hunts.” But that is for after 23 June. Before 23 June there is still a lot of time, even though there are only a few days. There is so much time within a few days, because standing opposite is Sali Berisha, unyielding in his desire to stay in power, and unpredictable in his moves to keep power. Opposite is a Democratic Party, very exhausted, with many internal divisions, still fairly strong even after eight years in government (compared to “Nano 2005”), with all the done and undone things, with a leader who appoints and calculates with the word “victory.” How can you win against this success machine? With the new color of the headquarters? With a laptop program? Rama must have finally understood that against a truck, you cannot go with a Ferrari... continued on page 17
