Having not reread these days in the newspapers the text of the resolution on the “Cham” issue, previously presented in the Assembly of Albania in April 2004, the first thought that comes to my mind was that I would vote for it with the same conviction as then. Why? Without going into reasons of a historical, patriotic or political nature, which in any case are formulated and weighed with their own scale, I will focus on two or three broader reasons, which should always be the foundation of a parliamentary document such as a Resolution. Which is nothing from one point of view because it has no executive power, but it is also very much from another point of view because it sets out the position of the people’s representatives on issues of particular importance, as is the present case of the unresolved Cham problem. In this context, whenever the question arises of drafting a resolution at the center of foreign policy issues, relations with neighbors, or unresolved historical problems, the calculation at the political level is not made on the basis of “do we want it or not,” because the answer... continues on page 19
