Comment PROF. NIKITA MANOKU Maternity ward that gives birth to kiosks Oh, who does not love what is beautiful, but in a hospital we must distinguish which beauty comes first. In the Old Maternity Ward, the University Obstetric-Gynecological Hospital «Mbretëresha Geraldinë», there are flowers, grass, the exterior is painted, and this environment is attractive. But what is done inside, on the work front, where service is provided not only to the eye, but also to the body and the soul? I can say with complete frankness that very little is done (or nothing). Over the evolution of these last 15 years, the cramped wall throughout the maternity ward and especially in the Obstetrics Clinic was drastically reduced, and this fact has created a major problem in the care of women giving birth and newborn children, greatly damaging it. Mothers and newborns leave the hospital too early and do not receive the care they are entitled to. As if that were not enough, in recent days it was decided to tear down again the information desk and the examination room on the first floor of obstetrics, spaces that were inaugurated with great fanfare a few years ago after reconstruction. In their place, a shop is being made to sell various goods. So, the Minister of Health and the Director of the Institution do not need an improvement in care for mothers and newborns, but are interested in the sale of goods in a shop inside the health institution.
