Comment BY AFRIM KRASNIQI The insufficient rotation One of the essential reasons for the citizens’ mass punishment of the outgoing government was the high level of official, administrative and political corruption. Especially in the last 2-3 years of government, almost every government act concealed a clientelist interest, a business close to decision-making, an electoral obligation or a family and social privilege. The government’s first promise of “clean hands” ended with Gërdeci and reached its peak with the events of January 2011. Those who came to power to uproot the corrupt system of the left created by Nano did nothing more than preserve the system, but replaced the corrupt pyramid first with new names and then with the same names, including the political alliance with Nano. The idea of morality and clean politics was defeated by the new oligarchic idea that the richer you become, the more power and privileges you gain, the more you impose yourself in public, in the media, in elections. The consequences are known. The level of state political corruption in 2011-2012 fell to the levels of 2001-2004, and in some major political areas even surpassed them, becoming, as Secretary Clinton warned, the main threat to democracy in Albania.
