(Reply regarding the article “You accused yourself wrongly, Mr. Memushaj”) Although, as a rule, I do not read the newspaper “Rilindja Demokratike”, since, yesterday, after leafing through the day’s press, dated July 15, its sensational headline “You accused yourself wrongly, Mr. Memushaj” caught my attention, which, overall, bore two signatures: at the top the signature of Marian Z. Shestani and, at the end, that of the Institute for the Promotion of the Values of the Albanian Language, written in the form of a letter addressed to the Doctor of Linguistic Sciences Rami Memushaj, in order to challenge his reply to the priest Gjergj Meta on the issue of the unified language, or the Standard. I was patient and read this article to the end even though I had brought to mind his polemic with the priest Gjergj Meta. And, why hide it? It seemed to me that Mr. Marian Z. Shestani was doing some nonsense in this article. In fact, it seemed to me that, right away, when he wrote to this personality, who had declared that he had never been a communist, that he had “stood out as a staunch communist militant in the ‘self-sacrificing’ struggle in defense of the linguistic standard, tendentious and anti-scientific of the infamous 1972 Congress”... ► continues on page 19
