Commentary BY LEKË TASI The politicization of the “Përmet episode” When, in the rush to find a solution, it is worth counting the many damages and delays that governments, without a state, have caused the country in the sensitive field of religion. Our governments have faced much more organized neighbors, and for this the first duty imposed on them was to show themselves attentive to the heterogeneous demands of the base. They have dealt with them without a spirit of cooperation, and this continues today as well. The external factor, made up of states such as Italy, Greece, Yugoslavia, earlier Turkey, became for three decades the so-called bourgeois-revisionist encirclement (1960- 90), when the wounds were pulsing and the festering grew under the heavy slab of the class struggle and anti-religious policy; in 1991 the Balkan confrontation returned, which would then leave the country almost imperceptibly in an encirclement of distant, almost virtual, but very authoritarian neighbors, although slow, bearing names such as the EU, NATO, USA, UN, Hague Tribunal, WB, IMF, etc. Suddenly a hopeful fate began to ... continues on page 17
