The PD’s defeat on June 23 became inevitable, but such an ugly defeat was not expected. The resignation of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha was an action that had long been called for, not so much because of his managerial shortcomings as a statesman, but because of his inability to carry out the most important and necessary reforms in Albania—precisely what we Albanians and the international community are insisting on: the establishment of the Rule of Law, which would deliver the justice long awaited and the order of the New, Pluralist Order.
