Commentary BY GËZIM ZILJA Speak up, Myqerem! A year has passed, and criticism of higher, secondary, nine-year and even preschool education shows no sign of abating. What isn’t being said, and what aren’t we hearing? In recent days, there have even been special programs about primary education, where the examples presented take children’s education many, many years backward. At the meeting on 16.09.2014, World Bank Director Ellen Goldstein said that “...in the latest PISAS study, the performance of Albanian students is at a low level—in the red, that is—with regard to reading and mathematics. Albanians are the most backward in education compared with the other Balkan countries.” Surely even a former Minister of Education has something to say about all this?
