COMMENTARY BY AFRIM KRASNIQI The political challenges of 2015 On the day the President of the Republic decreed the date of the local elections, the political identity of 2015 was also defined — a local election year which, according to Albanian tradition, turns into a political election year. The upcoming local elections are expected to dominate the political debate in the first 6–7 months, and then influence the post-election political action in the autumn. Their result does not offer any surprise: the new territorial division and the current position of the political coalitions in government and opposition leave no room for last-minute developments.
