We have a habit inherited from the dictatorship: we gather together like a sack in some sort of carpet for personal interest, not a common purpose. Nor can too many intellectuals manage to do it, let alone the masses. Citizens can hardly show solidarity with one another. For the most part, they tend to exclude it, because ours is such a society. A typical example of our tendency to be guided by the past is the moment when some start threatening and others throw in money.
