Can Parliament play the role of the court? BY Ilir DHIMA Today the Supreme Court is expected to assess the security measure for two MPs who have already been arrested by the Prosecution, Tomë Doshi and Mark Frroku. But instead of waiting for this Court’s decision, which in such cases has original jurisdiction (Article 141/1 of the Constitution), discussions continue, casting doubt on the way the immunity of the aforementioned MPs was lifted. In other words, this refers to Wednesday’s meeting this week of the Council for the Rules of Procedure, Mandates and Immunity of the members of the Parliament of Albania, whose debates did not change the course of the arguments and did not soften the tone even in Thursday’s parliamentary plenary session, where the opposition described everything as a farce. ——► continued on page 19
