Zef Brozi challenges Sali Berisha
With Brozi, right and law are on the side
It is an original path taken by the President of the Court of Cassation, Mr. Zef Brozi, in the face of the recent attacks by political power, which seeks by every means to paralyze and bring under its control this very important segment of judicial power. While today Mr. Brozi has prevailed in the court he heads over all the citizens interested in the accusations that have been made against him, he is at the same time directly challenging the President and the other leaders of power with the televised “duel” he is proposing, even before Berisha’s departure for the USA.
The path chosen by Mr. Brozi is not only a sign of emancipation, but also an expression of the confidence and independence of an official of the high judiciary. This example is an encouraging and inspiring act for all state employees, down to the humblest official, who in his work should recognize no hierarchy other than the law.

Here is the text of the letter
To the President of the Republic
Mr. Sali Berisha
Mr. President
Taking into account the constitutional proposal of the President as guarantor of respect for the constitution:
In the name of the peace and goodness that Albania needs today;
I request
1. That the anti-constitutional war against the judiciary be brought to an end and that the independence of the courts be genuinely respected.
2. That the violation of the right granted to me by constitutional law to the secrecy of correspondence be brought to an end. That the tapping of my home and office telephone, the blocking of telephone communication, etc., and the other unlawful forms of surveillance carried out by certain state mechanisms be stopped and not repeated.
3. In order to allow the people to judge the views of the President, the President of the Court of Cassation, the Prime Minister, and the Chairman of the People's Assembly, I invite you, Mr. Meksi and Mr. Arbnori, to hold a televised debate before your departure for the USA.
The topic of the debate is “The division of powers in Albania and how today’s conflicts between them can be resolved.”
4. In order to obtain the people’s assessment of my personality, I ask you to announce a referendum. If its result is against me, I shall resign immediately.
With best regards
ZEF BROZI
