Yesterday at 10:00 a.m. at the central headquarters of the Socialist Party of Albania, the work of the Second Congress of the Albanian Euro-Socialist Youth Forum began. It is being held on a very important day for the country and for its future. Precisely, at a time when Albania is sliding into anarchy and destabilization, when some of the most important democratic achievements in the country are being threatened and put at risk. Right at the start of the congress proceedings, the message of Mr. Fatos Nano, chairman of the Party of Labour of Albania, was read out. He greeted the forum of Albanian Euro-socialist youth for organizing this congress of great importance.

A SERIOUS CASE OF POLICE VIOLENCE
(the Albanian commentary of the garden continues[?])
We have been presented for publication with a copy of a document stating that on 4 July 1995, in the central square of Korçë, opposition members were dispersed with force during an event. The document also states that some young people were subjected to physical violence by police forces.
The Albanian Helsinki Committee drew attention to this case and described it as a violation of citizens' freedoms and rights.
