Meeting of the General Steering Committee of the Socialist Party Leaders of the Socialist Party In order to take the Party Congress’s ideas further and to address a series of tasks for preparing the election campaign and carrying out constitutional reforms, yesterday in Tirana the enlarged General Committee of the Socialist Party met, made up of members and secretaries of the Party committees in the districts, as well as chairpersons of the Socialist parliamentary groups in the regions, mayors and commune heads, ministers and deputies of the People’s Assembly, prefects and leaders of socio-political organizations. At the meeting, chaired by the chairman of the PPSH, Servet Pëllumbi, the problems and tasks of organizing the party’s work under the new political conditions were analyzed. In his opening remarks, Mr. Pëllumbi emphasized that after the party’s second congress a new stage begins in its political and organizational life. He called on the Socialist structures to increase the party’s leading role in society and in local government, strengthen ties with the masses, and support democratic and economic reforms. Page 4
