Meeting of the General Steering Committee of the Socialist Party Candidates for MPs are determined The electoral campaign in its decisive phase On Saturday, the Socialist Party determined its candidates for MPs for the capital city together with the other political forces of the opposition. Under the leadership of the first deputy secretary of the Socialist Party, comrade Servet Pëllumbi, yesterday the meetings of the National Assembly of the Socialist Party and the General Steering Committee were held in Tirana. The agenda of the meeting of the GSC included the candidacies of the Socialist Party, as well as those of the allied parties, for MPs in 26-year-old? for the electoral districts nationwide. Until a decisive stage, before the proposed and selected candidates finally emerged in the 115 electoral districts, the GSC carried out a very careful and highly responsible job to determine the names of the future MPs. The broad discussions within the party as well as in the electoral circles greatly helped cooperation with the other political forces of the opposition. Benefiting from the contacts and the ongoing discussions, at this meeting the candidates for MPs at the republic level were finally approved in principle, and the concrete conclusions of the allied parties were left for 20 April. Public opinion received this electoral list with great interest, as it is believed to be a worthy representation of Albanian socialism. At “Asllan Rusi” in the Sports Palace, the Socialist Party opened the electoral campaign by organizing on this occasion. (Continued on page 2)
