Meeting of the General Steering Committee of the Socialist Party
- The date of the PSSH Congress meeting on 24-25 August and the theses of the report, programme and statute are approved
- The Committee considered the unexpected appeal by the Secretary General of the PSSH, Gramoz Ruçi, to be a civilizing act
Decision of the General Steering Committee of the Socialist Party
The General Steering Committee of the PSSH, at its meeting of 8 July 1996, decided:
A. To approve the organizational structures of the Socialist Party, adjusting the composition of the leadership work for the new elections as well as for the Representation of the PSSH Congress.
B. To set 24-25 August 1996 as the dates for the next PSSH Congress meeting, which will politically address the elections of 26 May 1996 and the problems of the Party's internal life.
C. To approve the general theses for the report on the political speech and the analysis of the elections of 26 May, as well as the problems of the Party's internal life.
D. As this work continues, the Party Organization and its leadership structures should work to organize a broad discussion of the party's policy and the problems of its internal organization in the cells, base organizations and higher structures of the party.

Chronicle of the proceedings of the PS GSC meeting
At the beginning, the chairman of the Socialist Party, Mr. Servet Pëllumbi, gave an analysis of the political situation in the country after the elections of 26 May, describing it as extremely worrying.
In this analysis he stressed that there should be reflection on the causes of this political situation. Meanwhile, analyzing developments objectively, it was emphasized that the Socialist Party has conducted constructive opposition. This policy of the PS has found broad support and backing from Albanian public opinion, which at this moment is going through a delicate phase. Mr. Pëllumbi said that the entire stance on the problems discussed so far has been guided by maturity in order to solve the internal problems and the life of the party. Today, on 8 July, the members of the Presidency, the chairman, the deputy chairman and the secretary for external relations of the GSC held a meeting of the Communication.
The agenda of this meeting was the discussion and approval of the reform and communication of the progress of activities. The open and constructive debate, and the collegial decision-making of the GSC, establish a new tradition in the service of the party. For the involvement and the moment of participation and the increase in the activity of the PSSH, the presidency of the PSSH and we in the progress of the reforming of the PSSH. Fatos Nano andanavarje te KPD won his support from all members of the GSC and the party. So the constructive debate of this reform of the PSSH which has had a civic and ascetic part of the correction and organization of the reform.

The Political Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Stockholm recommends to the Albanian authorities
Violence and violations of the law during the campaign are denounced
Servet Pëllumbi, Vice President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, held a series of meetings in Stockholm with senior representatives of this Assembly, which discussed the situation in Albania during its session. In particular, the issues of the election results and their impact on the country's political situation, the clear vision of the goals of the reforms, and the challenges posed by this special situation were addressed. The participants in this session discussed with particular attention the developments in Albania and issued a resolution calling for new elections to be held. The chair of the session, British senator [?] D?sta, Mrs. Karl Ingvar Carlsson, sent the chairman of the PSSH, Gramoz Ruçi, a telegram underlining concern about the political situation in Albania and calling for new elections to be held.
