Congress for the reform of the Socialist Party

In the end, the General Committee of the SP decided that the party’s Congress will be held on 25 and 26 July. This major gathering of delegates will take part in the revitalization of a left-wing political force which, according to the plenary decision, is aligned with the principles of the Socialist International. This congress will take place at a time when the progress of the left in the country and in Albania must correspond to the dignity of the second parliamentary force, the organizational structure of the Party and the conference. The SP has won around 400,000 members. The decision to change its base, the change of name to SP, is undoubtedly a victory for the party’s reformist programs and the conference. This is a solution for the party’s new positions. At this time, not calm for the country and with the economic crisis. All these are reasons, perhaps sufficient, to draw the attention of the electorate to the programs of the left, but it is not enough to call ourselves a social-democratic political force, while a reflection of its center chooses a party with tradition and a basic program. The Congress of the Socialist Party not only throughout the country’s structures but also in these days of historical turning point. The introduction of the programs and of the congress in a certain way has to do with important elements of the new party in parliament, which must fight in modern and democratic forms. The way the Congress will be held will make it possible for this party to be more active in government and in opposition. It will further clarify many problems linked to the country’s development. Within the party organizations there are not a few opinions and criticisms. These must be seen as a living sign of the organization in segments of Albanian politics. Albania, in the hands of its supporters and its citizens, is taken seriously. The anversive and violent uprisings in genuine political dialogue, within and outside the country, to bring to life the optimal paths for overcoming the crisis. Page 2
