Editorial

Berisha has no moral right to greet the Socialist Party Albanians deemed him illegitimate, while he had no part in the process of reform and renewal, a process in which the people made themselves heard. Has this President lost his senses? Berisha has no moral right to greet the socialist processes and renewal reforms, as he does in his speech to the Socialist Party. Berisha spoke about the process of reforming the PS and of social conciliation governance without understanding what he was saying. For the moral presidency that belongs to him, he lost it the moment he sent the state, through police and violence, against free and pluralist elections. The Socialist Party, as the country’s second force and the largest opposition party, stands in the way of a policy governed by the hatred of a man who seems to have forgotten that he received his mandate by the free vote of citizens. He knows very well that he has no moral right to greet the reform process, because he has trampled the reform of the rule of law underfoot. The Link did so on 26 May and on 26 June above 26 March of the year another vote will be taken. But how can there be another spirit than the one the people despised on 26 May and 26 June? The Socialist Party does not need greetings from a man who, the closer he gets to power, the farther he moves from the people. He imagines he can seize by terror and weapons what he failed to win by vote. Before President Berisha greets the PS, he must correct his abuses, apologize, and release the political prisoners with whom he oppresses and holds many families hostage. Before being greeted by the President, the PS must learn from him how to reform a party and how to respect the law. Only then can he claim the right to speak of reforms and national agreements. He must renounce crude, limb-less speech, arrogant behavior, and the use of force to impose ideas. For this reason, his greeting is nothing but hypocrisy and demagoguery. He speaks of congress and of the Socialist Party, but he himself, together with his regime, is an enemy of democracy and a prisoner of violent rule. There will be no official end to things for the victory and the government of the Democratic Party
