At yesterday’s meeting of the presidency of the Socialist parliamentary group, the measures to be taken to counter-escalate the crisis in Albania and to create space for development and calm were analyzed. According to an official statement from the Socialist parliamentary group, the meeting realistically assessed the situation created by the anti-communist uprising and the activity of armed gangs that are destabilizing the country. The statement emphasizes that in part of the country’s districts, the ongoing actions of police forces and army units to restore order and calm are supported. The coalition government of the left, the statement says, needs more time to implement its program and to draw up a strategy for the country’s economic recovery and its proper representation on the international stage. The Socialist parliamentary group has called on every police station and police body to increase vigilance and to take citizens’ reports seriously. According to the statement, measures are being taken to increase reserve forces in the Vlora and Kalasa districts and to block entry points for unidentified elements into Tirana. The presidency of the Socialist parliamentary group highly գնահատes the activity of the municipalities and communes in the south of the country for their commitment to maintaining public order, as well as that of the general command of the army, the order forces, the police and the Republic Guard.
