From the meetings of the SPA delegation ROME: The chairman of the PSSH, Fatos Nano, accompanied by Mr. Pandeli Majko, Secretary for External Relations, and Mr. Gramoz Ruçi, Secretary for Legal Affairs, met yesterday in Rome with Italy's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lamberto Dini. During the meeting, the main problems of Albania were discussed, especially the recent political developments. Mr. Dini once again emphasized that Italy considers dialogue among all Albanian parties to be the key to a political solution, as well as the need to hold pluralist, democratic and inclusive elections. He also pointed out that Italy is ready to help Albania overcome the severe economic and social situation in which it currently finds itself. Mr. Nano stressed the necessity of creating an atmosphere of calm, restoring normality and establishing broad inter-party understanding, which would make it possible to hold the elections in the best possible conditions. Nano stated that the Socialist Party welcomes and is ready to cooperate with the Italian government and Italian political forces. The chairman of the PSSH, Fatos Nano, also met with the chairman of the PDS, Mr. Massimo D'Alema, and held a press conference for the Italian media. At the meeting with the Italian representatives, they also discussed the further expansion of cooperation in bilateral relations in the field of the media. It was agreed that the second channel of Italian Radio Television, RAI 2, would broadcast in Albania during the election campaign a special informational program intended to support the just struggle of democratic forces for a truly free electoral process. From the PSSH-PDSI talks

Yesterday, at the headquarters of the PSSH, the latest meeting was held with the delegation of the PDSI, led by the deputy chairman of the PDSI parliamentary group, Mr. Gianni Rivera. Present at the meeting on behalf of the PSSH were Fatos Nano, its chairman, Ylli Bufi, deputy chairman, and Anastas Angjeli, secretary for economic affairs. The meeting discussed at length the difficult situation in which the country finds itself, the need to restore order and calm, and the success of pluralist elections that would help solve the crisis through the creation of a stability government and the rebuilding of Albanian democracy. It is noted that the right-wing forces have lost the trust and authority to lead the country. The Socialist Party of Albania, in cooperation with other political centers in our country, has the potential and sincerity to save the country from catastrophe. The meeting also discussed the issue of the monarchy referendum. The representatives of the PDSI expressed their approval of the PSSH's stance against the referendum on the monarchy, against which the Italian people have repeatedly and unequivocally expressed their own position. We underlined that other issues together with this accelerated discussion would be a very serious act if intertwined with the upcoming parliamentary elections of 29 June.
