Decisive phase of the election campaign The Albanian electorate has already entered the decisive phase. With 29 June approaching, the comparative arguments for each political alternative have been heard loudly, clashes have already occurred on television, demonstrations have been seen and voices of revanchism have been heard. The appointed time has come for the final action of every force on the part of the participating mass and the new organizations on the basis of freedoms guaranteed in the country. The time has come to set the political apparatus in motion in every district of the country. The contest in each decision-making arena must go beyond solutions, must dare to take clear steps, in order to highlight the weight of its own orientation toward solving the crisis. It begins with the work that keeps events and interests under direct manipulation. If victory is to be politically valued and respected in the country, it must be separated from empty reactions and from tactless acts. The left-of-center forces are today looking toward the future. Just as they see in the socialists the social actor, the political instrument of reform and of the return to normality, the people revolted by the failure of the pyramid schemes see in this force the politics that can restore hope. Any step backward would be regarded as a dangerous decision for Albanian democracy. The result of these elections, especially for the PS, is of decisive importance. The political battle is open and electoral intrigue can no longer gain any momentum. It has become the duty of every socialist to put aside prejudices and work resolutely for the victory of the left on 29 June. With it, hopes for a solution to the crisis emerge.
