The German Foreign Minister will come to Albania
“We were relieved that the situation in Albania stabilized. The Government of National Unity of Prime Minister Fatos Nano has calmed the situation. Albania’s Foreign Minister Paskal Milo presented the German government with the government’s platform for resolving the crisis. Perhaps economic assistance is still needed, but we do not need soldiers”

Unfounded strike by press publishers
TIRANA - The capital’s publishers had announced that for 24 hours they would not publish any newspaper. Disagreement? over the draft budget. They extended it until 18. But “Zëri i Popullit”, as a party paper, was published normally.
Here is what the chairman of the Association of Albanian Publishers, Vili Minarolli, declared:
“Part of the publishers seek to present the debates of the media commission as their political and governmental act. The absence of the press in the press support programs of emergency aid that the government gave to the press runs counter to the principle of press freedom. The government spent 10 million dollars in aid for the daily press and gave only 1.8 million dollars for all other newspapers. Today.”

The words will be clarified at all costs
There will be specialists in the military hospital, specialists in Forensic Medicine and specialists from the Institute of Hygiene, so that this type of crime can be investigated with all scientific means. The state will in no way allow certain segments with primitive and criminal thinking to undermine freedom of speech and pluralism. This statement comes from Prime Minister Fatos Nano’s speech at the government meeting, where he instructed the Ministry of Public Order and the Prosecutor’s Office to bring the perpetrators of the attack against the director of Albanian Television, Vladimir Musaraj, before justice.

No to the abusive interference of the judiciary
Finance Minister Arben Malaj speaks
Today we present part of the speech by Finance Minister Arben Malaj regarding some misinterpretations of Law No. 7962 “On the state budget for 1998”, which concern the judiciary and the prosecutor’s office.
“The attempt to present the 1998 state draft budget as an attempt to block and subordinate the activity of the judiciary is absurd and insincere. In this difficult economic situation inherited as a result of the unlawful activity of the financial pyramids and the severe consequences of the social unrest, the government is trying to implement the budget law with transparency and responsibility. Starting from the overall size of the consolidated budget and the respect of the rights of all constitutional institutions, the government has taken care to assess the priority needs of the judicial system and the prosecutor’s office.”
