On the occasion of the traditional religious feast of the Great Celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, it is a particular pleasure for me to wish Your Beatitude, all the clergy and Orthodox believers a happy Easter, year after year. This is what Prime Minister Fatos Nano writes in a message of greeting to the Archbishop of Tirana and all the faithful, His Beatitude Anastas. After expressing his pleasure at the revival of traditional religious communities in Albania, Nano emphasizes that “their survival is praiseworthy, and their contribution to building civil society continues to grow.” The Albanian Autocephalous Orthodox Church has a rich and highly fruitful history, and has made a valuable contribution to culture, tradition, historical development, and the protection of Albania’s spiritual and material values and Albanian identity.
