PRISHTINA—Reliable sources close to the UN administration in Prishtina, UMNIK, also reported in the afternoon that the visit by the head of the Albanian Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, to several cities in Kosovo had been refused. The sources say that yesterday UMNIK chief Bernard Kushner sent Mr. Berisha a letter informing him of the decision and requesting that he not attempt to enter Kosovo. The sources say Kushner cited the lack of security for Berisha as the reason for not allowing the visit. Meanwhile, NATO troops at Morinë, the border crossing through which Berisha is due to enter this morning, have been ordered to inform Berisha that he is not permitted to carry out his visit to several cities in Kosovo and the capital, Prishtina. Berisha set off yesterday for the north of the country, Kukës, arriving yesterday afternoon accompanied by a long escort of noisy supporters, through his visit and personally seeking those who want to escape the pursuit of the Albanian police. Berisha intends to hold rallies with them in several Kosovar cities, starting in Prizren and Gjakova and ending in Prishtina. Newspaper sources said yesterday that Bujar Bukoshi’s criminals, who assisted him during the failed coup d’état in Tirana on 14 September, would join the criminal entourage that gathered yesterday in several cities across Albania.
