HJC removes only two judges, warns four
TIRANA—The meeting of the High Council of Justice fizzles out after an entirely predictable and much-anticipated ending, known for a week.
As always, the minimum number of proposals from the Ministry of Justice received the “OK” from the heads of the Albanian justice system, while most of the measures taken against these people had already been covered by warnings of dismissal.
Thus, of the 12 dismissals proposed by former Justice Minister Panda, yesterday the High Council of Justice approved this measure for only two of them, Tirana judges Arben Kostandini and Ardian Kalia. Meanwhile, four other judges were given warnings. The HJC did not discuss two judges of the Tirana Court of First Instance, Dritan Broci and Rivan Shkëmbi, because they had not been selected for health reasons.
