If you cannot manage to defend our policy, do not openly despise it. Why does the division of Kosovo's status frighten you? The agreement must be based on Kosovo’s sovereignty and not on anyone else’s temptations. Albania cannot take upon itself the role of spectator in a process that directly affects Albanian national interests. If the international side aims to close the issue with an imposed compromise, that would be unacceptable to Albanian public opinion. Therefore, a clear, firm, and responsible stance is required from state institutions. These are also the views expressed by the author of the open letter, addressing President Rexhep Meidani and Prime Minister Pandeli Majko. He asks that Albanian policy not remain passive, but defend the rights of the Albanians of Kosovo with arguments and international guarantees. In the end, he also refers to diplomatic pressure and the fear of escalation of the situation.
