Bombings over the former Yugoslavia will continue for several more days. The allied states have launched a new offensive; now a new phase of the war is expected, aimed at punishing Belgrade for the atrocities in Kosovo. Citing Russian President Boris Yeltsin, Russian authorities have made it clear that Moscow will openly support Belgrade. In our view, such a statement is above all a sign of Russia’s subordination to its own great ambitions. After a seemingly well-achieved test/proof, the author? (text partially illegible). At this time, Belgrade’s game is clear: it seeks to buy time, hoping that with changes on the ground it will be able to recover its positions. But NATO and its allies are not retreating. The impression is that Moscow is playing the role of a political shield for the Milosevic regime. In this situation, Albanians must remain united and not submit to Belgrade’s propaganda.
