It was said that this was the number needed to be admitted to the Socialist International (I); then all sorts of things were said... that by now there was not a single Enverist left in the ranks of the SP (as though those who had run the ML Institute, which had studied and published nothing but Enverism, did not deserve that title too), not even a single communist, and, what is more..., not one among these 100,000 members had any nostalgia for communism! Taking the former communists’ reports at face value, a foreigner was fooled too: the envoy of the Italian SP. He raised the number of members to 100,001, and they say that, in accordance with the rules and out of courtesy, he would pay the membership fee in foreign currency! And the SP would use that foreign currency to help the underprivileged. These days, when the outlawing of the communists was discussed, the socialists felt like those girls who are still unmarried but have lost their virginity! Since they have not yet been accepted as Western socialists, they have been anxious lest they be confused with the communists! They became so again AMERICA IS SAVED! GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO BELIEVE IN GOD!” At the beginning of last year, when the shoots of political pluralism had just begun to sprout, raising hopes for democracy’s victory in our country, friends and enemies began to increase their interest in and activity toward Albania. In the hoarse chorus of the enemies, the Northern Epirotes of Megali Idea also began to shriek. Among them stood out the priest Sebastian(os), Metropolitan of Konica, who drew his rusty sword from its sheath. He organized rallies in the border areas with Albania. “O God, O kurreli,” he began to shout. “We will continue the struggle.” He called for “the mobilization of thousands of Northern Epirote refugees,” [?] illegally, which a certain Northern Epirote organization headquartered in Korçë has distributed in Himarë. A whole new strategic plan, which envisages the “liberation” of Northern Epirus not by arms, but by means of a Trojan horse dressed in religious garb. Clearly, bravery has come to an end and cunning has begun. Sebastia-nos was once again put on alert in the Trojan horse’s chorus. But now he will not [?] so that the Albanian Church may not be separated from it—a Church which has always been, and will always be, connected with the Greek one—against Islam and Catholicism. 1. Thank you for the great assistance the Greek Church gives the Albanian Church. Naturally, the neighbor is the first to provide assistance. 2. That the Albanian Church Greek one is true to the extent that it is [?]- WHY IS ALEKO DHIMA SILENT, O GOD? In the infamous tract of the Northern Epirote organization addressed to the people of Himarë, among other things, it says: “3. An agreement will be signed between the Albanian Orthodox Church and the Greek Church to provide the churches of Northern Epirus in general, and those of the Himarë region in particular, with all the necessary items. On the Greek side it will be signed by Their Eminences Sebastianos and Janullatos, and on the Albanian side by Aleko Dhima, Secretary General. 4. Services in Himarë, Dhërmi, Palasë, Vuno, Qeparo, Kudhës will be held in Greek, according to the Sebastianos-Janullatos-Dhima agreement.” Mr Dhima, have you accepted that a “Northern Epirus” exists on Albanian soil? Have you accepted that Greek be used for preaching in the churches of the Albanian Autocephalous Church? What else does the agreement between Sebastianos-Janullatos-Dhima contain? Have all the Orthodox Christians of Albania, in whose name you signed the agreement, been informed of its contents? If these things are true, who are you, Mr Secretary General? If they are not true, why are you silent, Mr Aleko Dhima? They promise them a rifle instead of a cross, to attack and «liberate» Vorio Epirus. The Vorio-Epirote Don Quixote attacked the windmills. But his Rocinante died. The progressive Greek forces mocked him. The Albanians laughed. But the Vorio-Epirote Don Quixote did not give up, and he is not going to give up. He will only change his tactics. I remembered this fable-history when a leaflet fell into my hands, allegedly bearing arms. On the contrary, with Christ on his lips and the devil in his heart, he will certainly prevail—in Greek, of course. Of the 10 programmatic points discussed in the Vorio-Epirote leaflet, 9 are not worth discussing, because they are mere embellishments, serving only point 5, which says, among other things: «There will be talk of the great assistance the Greek church gives to the Albanian church and of the efforts made by the Greek one.» On the contrary, [it is] like every other Orthodox church. 3. The efforts made by «the Greek one» to prevent «the Albanian one» from breaking away from it prove that the Vorio-Epirotes, with Sebastiano at their head, regard «the Albanian one» as a branch of «the Greek one». Who gives them this right? Sabestianos-Janullatos-Dhima? Have all the Orthodox Christians of Albania—on whose behalf you signed the agreement—been why are you silent, Mr. Aleko Dhima?

America can get back on its feet now. It was saved! Enverian communism was buried. But even over the grave, it is still fresh. Its ghost has come back to life under another name... Those prophecies of the rabbits became relevant when the order was given to punish all the donkeys: «Come on, let’s run, brothers, before they find out that we’re rabbits and not donkeys, or we’re done for!...» But could it be that our «socialists» have only the «ears» of the communists?! Will the communists of ’91 be depoliticized or departified?! Where will they go to mobilize their organization?! Where will they take their militancy, where will they console their Enverism? Or are they not ashamed that the «socialists» in Parliament acted like inconsolable girls when the outlawing of the PK was discussed? They say some of our socialists have coffee and a shot of raki at reduced prices at the «Enveri» café-buffet opened by Hysni Milloshi’s communists, now underground as a party but pursuing poetry as a profession! The PS is wasting its time prolonging its feud with the communists, wasting its time!

Members of the association, members of the families of former old landowners, of the medium-sized or large landowners dispossessed by the communist dictatorial regime, Although the hated communist regime has been legally overthrown, the process of recovering the properties it stole in the past will be long and difficult. As regards the return of property to its lawful owners, the new government still holds on to old ideas; they continue to regard as right the arbitrary seizure of our property by the communist dictatorship! These gentlemen, who only pretend to care in order to convince the world, and democratic Europe in particular, trumpet loudly at every opportunity that, supposedly, our properties will be returned to us, the dispossessed owners. But in fact nothing has been done to date. Moreover, we must emphasize that, on the basis of the draft law prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and the other ministries for submission to the government and Parliament, despite the repeated requests made by our association, beginning on 7 May 1992 with Prime Minister Meksi and on 6 June with President Berisha, those draft laws were deliberately delayed so that they would be presented to Parliament after ... A few hundred meters from the center of Tirana, amid greenery and enduring quiet, stand the Academy of Sciences and, next to it, an old Austrian-style building with the evocative name PARLIAMENT. There, 140 elected men meet (whenever they deem it appropriate)... Their mission is to pass laws and oversee the government. To ensure they are as productive as possible in their noble work, the government has taken several measures. For example, not only the building but also an area around it is guarded. The fact that a good many ministers are also members of parliament has helped in this respect. It is said that they are involved in constitutional violations, but let that remain between us. Come on, that’s how it stands. What is the reason the members of parliament are so reluctant to come to parliament? ... Many newspapers have raised the issue, and an exhaustive answer has still not been given. The prompt to return to this delicate question came from the session of the People’s Assembly dated 15. 7. 1992. It did not take place because the members of parliament failed to attend(!). It is unnecessary to list here the many tasks and problems facing this country. However, as this parliament is presenting itself, we regret to say that this Assembly is out of touch with the country and the times. The commitment of our parliamentarians reminds one of the astronomers of Constantinople, who watched the stars while the city was burning. P.S. While this issue was at the printers, we learned that parliament would meet by the end of August. In other words, parliament will be taking a holiday.
