Instead of murderers and rapists, let the corrupt and those who compromise justice go to prison!
This 17-year-old boy, a former student at the “Gjergj Kastrioti” school in Durrës, was named Arion Alikaj, and is no longer alive.
On February 6 of this year, he was killed for base motives by his peer Besnik Tila, together with Ylli Çoba. Besnik Tila led the latter onto the path of crime. The Public Order authorities in Durrës arrested both murderers and handed them over to the justice authorities. Investigator Mark Vata concluded his procedure by deeming both of them murderers. Prosecutor Petrit Duka initially did the same. Later, this same prosecutor (!) ordered the release of the person responsible for the murder, the criminal Besnik Tila. Only Ylli Çoba remains a murderer, even though Besnik Tila had called him for help?! In the investigation file, prosecutor Petrit Duka wrote by hand: “The indictment is to be revoked and the charge under Article 84 / a against the defendant Besnik Tila is to be dropped (to be reclassified as assault).” So, according to the prosecutor, Besnik Tila had called Ylli Çoba, armed with a knife and thuggish behavior, to help him beat up Erion Alikaj, not kill him. We should clarify that the victim was stabbed in the heart, the chin and other places. His face was covered with more than 15 serious wounds caused by kicks with the toes of shoes; his nasal bone was broken and his chest crushed under the feet of the two murderers. Following the prosecutor’s intervention, the organizer of the crime was released. The justice authorities released him. Further comment would be superfluous. In any case, we would not be going too far if we said that instead of the murderer walking free, the person who released him should go to prison, even if he is a prosecutor.

THE GIRL RAPED TWICE
Some time ago, in the city of Elbasan, the police detained Asim Dumreçi because he had robbed and raped a girl.
The district prosecutor’s office hesitated to have him arrested. After the police presented incontrovertible evidence, the rapist was finally arrested. But then the investigation authorities released him. (The victim was absent, as she was in Greece.) Following a report from the head of Public Order to the High Council of Justice, the seemingly invincible Dumreçi was arrested. The victim was now in Albania. The trial began, but... The astonishing thing is that the judicial panel released him in the courtroom. After this strange odyssey, the High Council of Justice intervened again. Once again, it pardoned the members of the judicial panel. An official letter was immediately issued ordering Dumreçi’s detention, but... in vain. This time the bird had flown far away. After all these indulgences, Dumreçi had fled abroad... Meanwhile, here in Albania, the High Council of Justice imposed “severe” measures on prosecutor Mustafa Turku and judge Shkelqim Gani, reassigning them as investigators. That is all, just that much, for these people who stain and rape the word JUSTICE. Now they are entitled to release criminals and rapists ahead of time. And they have already started their work. They have gone after the head of Public Order, threatening him with letters and court cases, because he supposedly insulted them when they were at the end of the “Dumreç” case. It should be noted that, as witnesses against the aforementioned head of Public Order, they have summoned his persecutor, Vasil Dode, who sentenced him to 25 years’ imprisonment during the December events. Let us see how many more years he will add this time.
The tragicomedy reaches its peak here. It seems that those who, through their decision, raped the poor girl a second time have been insulted.
At least today we must understand that it is time to get rid of them.
Serbs were supplied with secret American documents by the Greeks
Espionage affair at the American Embassy in Greece
— Secret American documents on the crisis in the Balkans and the former Yugoslavia reached the Serbs through an embassy employee —
Athens, May 5
News agencies report that Athens was rocked on the evening of 5.5.1993 by a major story from the USA, announcing that an espionage network had been uncovered at the American Embassy in Athens, from where information about the US position on the crisis in the Balkans and the former Yugoslavia was leaking to the Greek government and Belgrade. News was broadcast in Athens that, on Saturday, an American of Greek origin named Stiv Lalas, who worked at the American Embassy in Athens, had been arrested in Washington. According to the US State Department, Lalas is accused of giving several people in Greece secret documents about the crisis in the Balkans and the former Yugoslavia—documents that made their way into the hands of the Serbs as well. The Greek commercial television network “Mega” claims that the affair could take on very broad dimensions and could affect the Greek government and Greek-American relations.

What was the RUKERT company, and what did it do in Albania?
How many mountains of documents does Professor Hoxha have about this company?
Professor Farudin Hoxha, who possesses a mountain of documents about the “Iliria Holding” company (which are being made available to the press), almost inadvertently mentioned another, nearly forgotten company, “Rukert,” during a televised debate. A company that came to Albania at the end of the ’90s. An agreement signed on behalf of the Albanian government by former minister attached to the Council of Ministers’ Presidency and chairman of the Committee for Cooperation with Foreign Countries, Farudin Hoxha, makes clear that it would deal with expanding Tirana airport and telecommunications, building a highway and five-star hotels, Coca-Cola factories, several hydroelectric power plants, etc. In addition, “Rukert” has the right to plan, build and manage specific projects in cooperation with the Albanian government or third-party partners.
Who brought “Rukert” to Albania? What was it, and what did the “Rukert” company do in adapting the drafting of agreements in Albania? What role and knowledge does Professor Hoxha have concerning this powerful company? The final question concerns the fact that the agreement between our government and the “Rukert” company was signed at the behest of the Committee for Cooperation with Foreign Countries, which was chaired by Prof. Farudin Hoxha.
Inhuman socialism
Vincenzo Sciascia
The world is no longer the one for which socialism was intellectually suited. Many failures have led to a crisis in socialist parties, calling their fate today into question. But it is unjustifiable today to seek to have those most capable identify with socialism, or vice versa, or to claim that the free market and capitalism are the same thing that must be separated. Nevertheless, Rocard’s idea of proposing anew a socialism with a new face of the “progressive movement” spontaneously raises the question of whether it can exist
a left without a grand project, clearly Marxist, because the idea of a future left capable of managing the market economy and thereby guaranteeing within itself the human element of “solidarity” is hardly credible.
Historian François Furet accuses the Left of being incapable of conducting an accurate analysis of modern capitalism, and also of going too far in opposing the very idea of democracy that runs through our civilization. Socialism relies on the Left and a society based on solidarity and the market economy, on the Socialist International, on a “myth” that has reached its end and that still remains the subject of debate.
For more than a century, this Left has viewed things with the belief that social progress was simply equivalent to technical development, a belief that no longer holds, just as class sociology no longer holds, and just as the concept of an economic policy based on the notion of classes—and taking no account of factors—no longer holds

The Mirakaj tragedy deserves its own altar in the history of the nation
— A report of grief and pride from Iballa, Pukë —
PIRO KICE
► Words and the ceremony
What we lived through and survived during this half-century can be testified to with a heavy conscience and with difficulty. But without passion. History is not written with passion. All the more so when they have a political purpose. The truth is not for these politics.
During the report of grief and pride from Iballa, Pukë, the events, memories and experiences of the Mirakaj family are recounted.
What we lived through and survived during this half-century can be testified to with a heavy conscience and with difficulty. But without passion. History is not written with passion. All the more so when they have a political purpose. The truth is not for these politics.
As soon as deputy Kujtim Gina told me to speak about the good things that had happened to the Mirakaj family, Pashuk Mirakaj, who were at the beginning of their emigration, he replied to me, “Let us talk about our tragedy”... (continued)
Izët Shehu, Kujtim Gina and our former high-school teachers Minella Dani. For a traveler passing through for the first time, the journey to Fushe-Arrëz is a magnificent immersion in the Albanian landscape, unfolding before one’s eyes. A lesson and a chronicle, too. People with epic hearts, hospitable and generous as rarely seen; just one stop on a mountain “balcony,” and we look out. “Spaci. A lit candle. Memories, pain, silence...” A living witness and a village community.
9:45. Fushë-Arrëz. People waiting and offering hospitality, smiles and open hearts. “Welcome.” There are many of them. Are you tired? They are all welcoming us. One greeting after another, all hospitality. “We all keep changing places, as if we weren’t doing very much.” They are good people, journalists. The purpose of the trip and report, deputy Mirash Hoxhi, deputy Simon...
Huta, who only with humor can dispel our fatigue; the head of the Public Order Department, Prefect Pjetër Prendi, Deputy Minister Mirakaj, Gjergji Sokoli and everyone... everyone.
We talk about this and that, about what pains and gladdens the soul. Free conversation, good people talking about the hospitality of the people and the smooth running of the ceremony. And at the end I say a few words: “I’m glad we met. Thank you for your hospitality. You have placed a heavy burden on your vote, Marash, but you will succeed, by God, because people love you.”
Thank you. Democracy brings people together. Everyone. We all sought what those in power had trampled underfoot. We all won it. Let us all preserve it.
“May I know you well,” brave Pashuk Mirakaj! May God be with you!
Katurd iballi, like a sweet meadow among the mountains on this May midday, with spring’s colorful flowers constrained by the explosion and gathering of ignorant people, anomalies, fools who vote on dubious diets. People. Fuçiku was a communist, not a communist; it was good that they put the noose on him for the report—he has not fared badly; happy is whoever understands that true human values stand above political parties. Pluralism is a very sweet thing, as Mrs. Dile has also said; she seems purified, as she forgives over the price of property; these things are now over. Nevertheless, there are officials in offices who take down telephone numbers and report them to the people in charge of the invitations. They cannot be used by the old illness of collaborating with certain security people. Fatos Nano has a document proving that he has no connection with Enver, but with Nexhmije. This document is currently in the hands of a deputy, who keeps it for a purpose and the name of the dictator’s own lady, whom the dictator divides into two paths. Nexhmi and my peak? ... □ “The time has come to oppose this Slavocommunist regime, even with weapons, because tomorrow, when you go looking for a rifle to kill even yourselves, you won’t find one.” And the time has indeed come, but...
□ The family tree of the MIRAKAJ family: 936 years of imprisonment, internment and exile. Executions and deaths under communist torture cannot be measured in centuries of life. Could it be that even children aged 2–5 were left as criminals by the communists?
□ For 50 years the MOUNTAIN LAMENT was forbidden, this human rite in which men weep openly, and MEN (A) are so violently affected in spirit that they will weep?
□ For 50 years, a communist atrocity: the Mirakaj House—the nest of the dictatorship.
□ May the Lord’s good [unclear] fall upon the earth and return to its rightful place. In such cases there are no boundaries between where custom ends and where the department begins. For brave men, there is only respect.

REFORM
G/1993
[Handwritten note: No. 08.05.93]
From the Chronicles
The madwoman N., following the example of the motor rally held a few days ago, organized by the State Security with the Labor Party of Albania at its head, took the floor in an unusual place. What she said and where she dared to say it, you will understand from the text below:
“Ladies and gentlemen, the time when you remembered me as a journalistic tri[?] has come to an end once and for all. Not only do I exist, but I also confirm the truths for those who have ears. So I want to tell you, with the logic of my nervous condition, that Ban Alia is meanwhile in France.” Hajdin Sejdia in Switzerland. “Levante Co” in Italy and Yugoslavia, all guilty at rallies and on television screens, eating meat and pilaf from the 9,000,000 stolen from aid funds. Bosnia and Herzegovina will never have citizens, while at the same time Kosovo, my beloved Kosovo, suffers equally at the hands of the Serbs and of those scum who secretly serve Serbia and who leave the group to one side or another of the promenade administration, as they once did with other ministers. I have discovered a spy; I will soon photograph him and all his activity, but in a manner favorable to the Albanian UDB and Yugoslav Albanians. I have sped up a number with money, or two numbers with Serbian money—who can remember amid all these troubles and work? My historical role is!”
