At last, a solution was found

Albanian politics in Macedonia Arben POPOCI The unacceptable situation in the political life of the Albanians in Macedonia, which has been going on for a long time, was finally resolved in the simplest way. The Albanian political leaders, who had long ago lost political credibility among the Albanians of these regions, “strangely” continued to remain in power. In fact, these leaders used the simplest trick to dismiss any attempt to discuss their positions in Albanian politics. They claimed to hold the mandate to politically lead the Albanian state. Taking into account the standing of Albanians in Macedonia and their feelings for Albania, they continued to remain where they were, regardless of the political steps they took to the detriment of the Albanians. ATSH’s commentary quickly and simply resolved this absurd situation. An official statement from an official institution informed the Albanians in Macedonia that the identified leaders did not enjoy special protection from official Albania. Thus, the last “reason” for these politicians not to leave was removed—a departure the people had been calling for for a long time. The way of communicating with Albanians outside the Albanian state, both officially and unofficially, was very appropriate, since the Albanians there need nothing more. It is enough to prevent the abuse of the language, mandate and trust that some swindlers claim they enjoy from official Albania. Indeed, this method should be taken even further. Those Albanians who are worthy of carrying the political banner among the Albanians in Macedonia, and not only in Macedonia, are recommended to Albanians through interviews in official media and in other ways, thereby blocking the path of adventurers and those “favored” by Serbia or the Macedonians, and “saving time.”

The dramas were missing a playwright

Leka Toto’s book of plays, entitled “...”, was released a few days ago. A completely ordinary report about the book was given on television. Then someone ... the book, the author and actor in question, Leka Toto, becomes the victim of deputy Leka Toto; they bring up the forgotten ... not even ... minimal, that reading of ... Books are currently being published in great numbers ... the relationship between evaluations and the efforts of criticism. But in any case, as for ... contradictory mosaic dramas ... the tastelessness of ... all the ... dramatic ... The effort is classified as a kind of genius, if not something worse. Here Leka Toto’s quarrel gets in the way of Leka Toto, and while for 27 years Leka Toto himself has been the obstacle to Leka Toto’s work, now again he will suffer something from the triumph. The political ... of ... (part of the text is illegible) The play in question, as I had predicted, is the fate of a work that has no thread connecting it to any other work or any other time. I am also convinced that many literary colleagues, perhaps because of where political conflict has landed them, when they read the plays “Sahipi”, “Fani” and “Vetëkryqëzimi” will feel that among them there is not a powerful column, but that he alone was missing. The courage to deny this connection with other entirely moral values raises us to what the other ... The years I spent writing in Çermë of Lushnjë, I saw with my own eyes the suicide of a girl interned for political reasons / the debate about her, drawn madly after this; exhausted, I tried for a long time to find an arrow with which to strike at such a subject. I could not find one. And it remained unwritten. Now, reading the play “Vetëkryqëzimi”, I understand at least somewhat that the subject ... (continues, partly illegible) I also have the aesthetic knowledge to unravel it, as well as the emotion of documentary familiarity to carry the analysis through to the end. The author Leka Toto’s three plays can be separated only physically, because they are inseparable from one another; like Kadare’s works, they are a critique realized not only through one of the characters or through the message, but through those visible and invisible tissues that shape a body. And so, more precisely and most importantly, the figurative literature in this book, alongside the emotional ... The author of the play’s acts feels free. He has achieved this for himself through artistic discoveries and the feelings of his characters. The powerful contrast between the atmosphere in which the characters struggle and the author’s freedom goes so far that, not infrequently, the shadow cannot reach the thought and suffering. Then figures such as the prisoner who preferred to dream of eternal silence emerge from the playwright’s consciousness, and from this whole context comes the form ... You reported the limit between life and death, when he says: “Write so that you are not swallowed up”; exist because you write. achieved this for himself through artistic discoveries ... As far as I know, the use of erudition in literature as information or display is often a mask and a drawback. But in the case of the author under discussion, erudition does not have this quality; rather, it is written along the lines of talent. The dialogues, especially in “Sahipi”, are elitist, where the mass-literature reader, mediocre and in a crowd, gets stuck like a ship in the shallows. As for the tricks of communist aesthetics, they cannot come to accept such literature. Meanwhile, the specialized reader, and why not colleagues too, is constantly presented, while reading the plays, with the possibility of catching illogic in the act. All three plays give you the pleasure of a well-played game. I would suggest some of his pages, such as the opening of the play “Sahipi” ... And through mediation ... (continued on page 4)

Tomorrow at the Tirana Court

This is the former last Presidium of the Central Committee of the PPSH. Ramiz Alia, Simon Stefani and Hekuran Isai are absent; they will stand trial later. These are the last members of the Politburo. They are the ones Enver Hoxha was unable to kill because he ran out of time. So these are the oldest members of the Politburo. Their good fortune was that they survived, and ours was that at last we saw them exposed, as they really are: Here, look at Lena Cuko’s portrait! What painter would not want her portrait in order to sketch an example of Illyrian ignorance? Look at comrade Pali, Vangjel, the coachman Muho... Now they look ridiculous. But in reality they were dangerous. They were dangerous—dangerous enough that if you mentioned one of their names with even the slightest humor, you could go to prison for eight years for agitation and propaganda. Workers would not be assigned to a professional category if they forgot even the name of the man. They are ridiculous, but they were also terrifying. They are the only ones, then, whom Enver Hoxha did not kill because he ran out of time. Tomorrow they will be tried for abuse of ... This is an opportunity to see their grotesqueness for the last time. They were ridiculous, but they were also terrifying...
