Socialists celebrated the 54th anniversary of the founding of the PS

Yesterday in Tirana... The Socialists celebrated the 54th anniversary of the founding of the PS. Yesterday the PS celebrated its 54th anniversary. You can lie about your age; it is not a particularly great sin, but a time comes when lying about your age becomes tiresome, and the only person who believes it is the one who says it. The Socialist Party celebrated yesterday the 54th anniversary of its founding, after a congress that was both the last and the first. It was the congress that closed the glorious era of the PP and opened that of the PS. The manner of its creation, a considerable portion of its membership, and its positions on several key issues, especially when it comes to the past and, in particular, the figure of their father, Enver Hoxha, are clear signs that the PS is the PPSH. This is best demonstrated by the questions that arise about the conditions and circumstances in which the Albanian communists decided to change their name. Why did the PS not emerge like all the other parties, by completing the usual formalities, but instead had to wait for the 10th Congress of the PPSH? After the formation of the PD as the first opposition party legalized by the decree establishing political pluralism in Albania, several other parties were formed, representing different sections of the population, although their main common thread was anti-communism. At that time, the country was on the eve of the elections of March 31, 1991. Ramiz Alia needed a political force capable of supporting him in his political plans. Considering the conditions at the time, while not ignoring the past or Ramiz Alia’s position, it is not difficult to conclude that the only political force that could Continued on p. 3

Military base near the border

. During a military ceremony held in Kotor in recent days, the Montenegrin president, Momir Bulatoviç, announced that Montenegro had made available to the military forces of the self-proclaimed Yugoslavia the Bay of Valdanos, where a naval military base will be built, as well as 130 apartments in the Pinjesh neighborhood of Ulqin, where officers and their families will be housed. The announced project to militarize this bay has long concerned Albanian and Montenegrin public opinion, as well as military affairs specialists, who see the construction of this base as a threat to the entire region. Forgive me for leaving you without any news last night, but I was at a party and couldn’t go out into the streets. The party went quite well, except that toward the end some bottles and chairs were smashed over the heads of those present. The cause was the question of which party card was better, that of the PP or that of the PS. People have gone a little crazy lately. They argue for nothing. Last night everyone was carrying two party cards and didn’t know which one was better. Hysni Milloshi has gone up into the mountains of Tepelenë with his komitë fighters. Hysni’s unit is trying to free Commander Fatos. Fatos has given no sign that he is alive since the new Penal Code came out. “And what am I supposed to do when I get out of the tekke?” Fatos is quoted as having said to a very independent newspaper. When the Socialists take power, they will carry out the reform with my help. I’ll appear at daybreak, with the morning star, and say: “All administration workers and kiosk owners are not to go to work today until further notice!” You see, nothing changes, but it is repeated in another form. That is how the Communists carried out the reform in 1946. Lately the new catchphrase Nami-Nano is being used a lot, my boy: ‘the party has [them] like doves.’ The January dove has its feathers ruffled, but has ordered lime from Greece. Lime not only whitens your face, it also disinfects drug addicts. Happy 54th anniversary! Communism never dies. Long live the PS!
