32-year-old’s bomb overshadows Skalfaro and Berisha

Unprecedented act in front of the Presidency 32-year-old’s bomb overshadows Skalfaro and Berisha The “kamikaze” is mentally ill Yesterday at 13:55, just 5 minutes before Italian President Oskar Lu-ixhi Skalfaro was due to leave the presidential headquarters, 32-year-old Ilir Buza from Fushë-Kruja threatened to cause terror with a hand grenade from which he had also removed the safety pin. He approached the main entrance to the Presidency as an ordinary passerby and produced the offensive hand grenade, demanding a meeting with President Berisha. I. Buza held the grenade in his left hand and had [ciliuar?] the fuse—special forces from the Ministry of the Interior arrived, and they organized an operation with 8 options to make it possible to immobilize and capture the terrorist. The Minister of the Interior, Agron Musaraj, also arrived at the scene and took charge of the operation. The minutes passed and the terrorist increased his demands. In a direct conversation with the 4 commanders of the Police special forces, he demanded 20 million. What the operation’s protagonists say. After an hour he moved to the main entrance of the Palace of Congresses, continuing to threaten. To capture him, option No. 8 was put into effect. Someone knocked on the window against which the terrorist was leaning. This distracted him from the main object, and at that moment Vasillaq Zoto grabbed his hand, blocking the grenade’s safety mechanism. Dozens of police officers immediately threw themselves onto the terrorist; after capturing him, they transported him in a van to Police Station No. 3. Thus ended the anxiety of dozens of passersby, who for about an hour had found themselves ... Political parties in Kosovo oppose recognition of Yugoslavia

This act is “a show of gratitude to Belgrade’s chief policeman” Kosovo Albanians are vigorously protesting to the governments of various European countries over their recognition of the Belgrade regime in this country. The first to signal his position on this was the prime minister of the government of the Republic of Kosovo, Bujar Bukoshi, during a visit to the USA, where he met prominent figures in the American political movement. Both in his meetings and in his contacts with journalists, he described such an undertaking as very harmful and warned that this step, taken without proper consideration, would have dangerous consequences. He described recognition of the Belgrade regime, which according to Bukoshi is responsible for starting the war in the former Yugoslavia, as “a show of gratitude to chief policeman Millosheviç”. After Bukoshi, it was the turn of the deputy chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Fehmi Agani, to do the same. At yesterday’s press conference, he too sharply criticized the recognition of what remains of Yugoslavia by several European states. Mr. Agani once again expressed the demand that recognition of Yugoslavia be made conditional on recognition of the right to Continued on p. 4
