Meeting between Chairman Godo and the Turkish ambassador, Mr. Ornekol
The chairman of the Republican Party today received the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Metin Ornekol, on the occasion of his departure from Albania.
Mr. Godo said that during the five years he served in Albania, Mr. Ornekol had provided very valuable assistance in developing relations between the two friendly countries. The Republican Party has regarded Turkey as a Balkan state whose contribution to the stability of the peninsula is of the utmost importance.
Mr. Ornekol is leaving with regret a country he had come to know and love ever more, and from which he will not be severing ties in the future. Mr. Ornekol will do whatever he can to help the Republican Party establish direct relations with political forces in Turkey.
In addition to political cooperation, Mr. Godo and Mr. Ornekol are also bound by a sincere personal friendship.

The “Tirana” phenomenon is business, it is freedom, it is modernization, but strangely, more than that—and even within business, freedom, and modernization—in the eyes not only of many provincials but also of Tirana’s own citizens, it is the phenomenon of corruption and filth, crime and perversities, the anachronism of dust and the turning of streets into villages.
